Kesher Program for children with special needs
Called Kesher (Connections), the program offers a positive camping experience to children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, sensory integration disorders, ADD/ADHD, and emotional/behavioral disorders. It is an inclusive program, in step with current trends in which children with disabilities are "main-streamed" throughout the camp experience with the rest of our campers. Campers in the program will receive dedicated staff support so they can be successful in regular groups and in all the activities camp offers.
The grant allows us to hire additional staff with a background in special education and other related fields that address the needs of youngsters with developmental disabilities. In addition, all staff at camp will receive training to successfully integrate these campers.
Staff will coordinate among parents, schools and service providers to ensure a successful transition for participating campers.
